Mrs. Gonzalez Dean of Students RTI Interventionist John Muir Elementary School - Portage Community Schools
Let me start off by saying how honored I am to work as the Dean at John Muir School. In my 8 years at John Muir I have learned what a special and caring place our school is for our children and the community. In my role as Dean I see myself as a leader, a communicator, a teacher, and a guide towards positive educational experiences at John Muir School. I will make it my mission to be honest, caring, supportive, and most importantly dedicated to the success of each and every student at John Muir.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 2002. After my time in Stevens Point I started my first teaching job in Special Education at Amherst Elementary School right outside of Point. I worked in this position for four years. I also met my husband Mark during this time. We were married in 2006 and moved to Portage where I started teaching Special Education at John Muir Elementary. I worked in this position for 7 years and truly enjoyed this opportunity. In 2010, I decided to go back to school for my Educational Leadership license. I graduated with this license during the summer of 2014.
My husband Mark currently works as a GIS Technician at MSA Professional Services in Baraboo. Our home is right here in Portage. We have a daughter Mariah (6), and a son Ethan (4). Our family enjoys spending time together, traveling, going to the beach, fishing, boating, and camping.
I believe community and family are so important to each and every one of us as we travel through life. Our children are such precious gifts filled with endless curiosity and life. I promise to dedicate myself to making John Muir a positive place to grow for each and every child. John Muir is part of my family. I look forward to the coming year with boundless energy and excitement.
